Environmental Protection & Climate Change

UNBELIEVABLE

Alabama has people living in areas where there is poor water quality.

Even though climate change is one of the biggest concerns for millennials many refuse to believe it is real.

Mobile County

Chemical Spill

Some residents claim they are still being affected by a chemical spill.

Loundes County

Open sewers

Some residents still live in homes that are not tied into a sewer tank or sewer system.

27,000

Flooding

Today, twenty-seven thousand Alabamians are at risk of experiencing coastal flooding.

93

Heat Index

In 2000, Alabama had 23 days with a heat index above 105 degrees.  By 2030, it has been projected that there will be 93 days with a heat index above 105 degrees.

2.8 million

Wildfires

More than 59% of the Alabama population, or 2.8 million people, are living in areas at elevated risk of wildfire.

70

Heat Wave

By 2050, the number of heat wave days in Alabama is projected to increase from 15 to more than 70 days a year.

What Boyd Believes:  All Alabamians – and all Americans – must have clean air and clean water.

That is why Will Boyd will work hard every day as your United States Senator to:

  • ensure that all Americans have access to clean drinking water and clean air
  • help provide quicker relief to cities and townships affected by chemical leaks or spills
  • support changing out of lead pipes
  • make sure all Americans--especially those living in rural areas and poor communities--have opportunities to tie into sewer or septic systems
  • support modernization of ports and waterways
  • support legislation to reduce Green House Gas 80% by 2050
  • support investment in the Green Jobs Sector
  • help readjust blue collar workers for a greener economy
  • support an all inclusive approach to energy (which includes coal) while exploring greater ways to reduce dependence on foreign oil and investing more into renewables such as solar, wind, hydro, geothermal energy production
  • support the building of a national network of electric charging stations

Please give my campaign a "helping hand."
